The catalytic converter is a honeycomb metal structure which incorporates precious metals (palladium,

rhodium and platinum) into its surface. These metals convert the poisonous carbon monoxide

and unburnt hydrocarbons found in exhaust gases into non-toxic carbon dioxide and water vapour.
